Laila el-Haddad expecting…

See what happens when I go on vacation? Lots of interesting things!
Laila’s post there contains the most adorable sonogram of her future daughter.
May Laila and her family all be able to return soon to a peaceful and hope-filled Palestine, standing either next to or well integrated with a peaceful and hope-filled Israel.

  1. If the ultrasound had colours we could figure out if the baby was affiliated with Hamas or Fatah (or one of the other 11 terrorist splinter groups)…

  2. I cut the rest of the above hateful comment and was about to cut that hate-filled core of it, too, but then I thought that( 1) that comment represents the absolute epitome of hate-thought: the idea that an in-utero baby could be a “terrorist”, and therefore, according to Doris’s lights (or lack thereof) should most likely be exterminated; and (2) leaving it there helps me to start to feel a glimmer of sadness about a person who could be so fueled by fear, anger, and hate, so stripped of her powers of human empathy and rationality, that she could even start to think or articulate such a thought.
At first, I could not believe that anyone would or could write such a thing about the happy news of another person’s pregnancy. Was this anonymous “Doris” person kidding when s/he wrote that?? But I saw no further signs in the rest of what s/he wrote that that was the case. Doris really is a person consumed by hate and irrationality.
So I apologize to Laila and everyone else who might feel offended by my leaving Doris’s comment up there. I think, though, that it has educative value about the depth of degradation to which fear and a willingness to hate can drive someone.

  3. My thought regarding Doris’ putrid remark is this:
Terrorism actually begins in the mind, not in utero. Actually, I am glad that you left this post up, H. It is revealing, and we must all understand the depths of such depravity.
    THANK YOU, Doris and Helena.

  4. Actually the entire post was about the Palestinan
internecine battles and chronic divisions, with a
link to a BBC piece reporting on the human rights
violations just unearthed by Amnesty International
    since the Hamas election.
The ultrasound color was just to emphasize the absurdity of the outcome of such internal divisions.
I challenge Helena to repost the original message so you’ll see it was a political and current events post using absurdity for color.
What is putrid is removing part of a writing, deceiving the readers, and adding the fuel of character assasination. Sorry hateful lady if you ask me. Your words, no more no less.

  5. Thank you Helena. It is indeed another reminder that there are hundreds of thousands of “Doris”es out there. This is just one more reason why one has to tread through life with a tight nose-clip, and take the prophylactic anti-emetic religiously every day. After a while, the depravity of the human soul doesn’t even disturb you as much as it should. For every Rummy, Dick or Adolf, there are always millions of “Doris”es to cheer them on.

  6. A. So Doris, called on her expression of hate-speech comes back with a version of the “But I was just kidding there” ploy.
Does Doris really imagine that the targets of, and witneses to, hate-speech have never seen this ploy before?
