Ma’an news agency had this disturbing report today, in which it listed the names of 59 Gazans still missing since last december’s Israeli assault on the Strip, and presumed still buried under the estimated 1.5 million tons of rubble still left uncleared there.
The listing goes in order of age. The youngest three are:
- 1. In’am Ra’fat Al-Masri, 12, Ash-Shati Refugee Camp
2. Abed Ar-Rahman Ahmad Al-A’tawnah, 15, Al-Faloja
3. Jihan Sami Al-Helu, 17, Al-Karama Tower
The oldest five are:
- 54. Hakmah Abed Ar-Rahman Al-‘Attar, 75, Beit Lahiya
55. Mahdiaeyah Salman Ayyad, 76, Az-Zaitoun
56. Eid Jum’a A’yyad, 80, Az-Zaitoun
57. Mariam Abed Ar-Rahman Abu Thaher, 85, Beit Lahiya
58. Mariam Mutawe’ Mutawe’, 85, Al-Mughraqa
May their souls rest in peace. But what an outrage that Israel refuses to allow into the Strip the heavy lifting equipment required to locate and extract the mortal remains of these 59 people, so they can be given a decent burial.
Remember the huge lengths Israel goes to to get hold of the body parts of every single Israeli citizen, including airmen downed in combat? Well, Palestinians honor their dead every bit as much. I can barely imagine the pain the families of these missing people must be experiencing.
will isreal pay compensagtionm for its destruction? It expects the germans to compensate them for ww2///Yet, they can kill and destroy with no financial compensation made.
At least they are all surely dead by now. In 2006 Israel bombed a Lebanese orphanage to rubble, trapping the wife and children of the director in the basement where they had gone for shelter from the bombardment. They refused to allow equipment into the area that could lift the rubble and free them, despite pleas from the orphanage director, and many others. I never found a followup to that story, so I do not know whether they managed to get them out before they suffocated to death, or died of dehydration or starvation down there, but can you imagine how it felt to that orphanage director and the other family members of that woman and her children knowing the means of rescue existed, was available, and that the Israelis were intentionally keeping them in that basement.
US: We will not use sanctions against Israel
Tags: ISRAEL
The US state department stressed on Friday that President Obama is not at all considering to impose economic sanctions on Israel when it fails to comply with US demands to end construction in settlements. The US is also not willing to consider mounting international pressure on Israel.
Webmaster’s Commentary:
No matter how many times Netanyahu’s government spits in Obama’s face and tells him it’s raining on the settlement issue, Obama will not use the one weapon he could potentially use for some leverage: US aid, both financial and military, to Israel.
By having that statement made by a State Department Official, Obama has just conceded that no matter what Israel does to the Palestinians (murder, siege, burning their crops, or evicting them and building illegal settlements where Palestinians used to live), he is catastrophically impotent when it comes to being an honest broker for peace.
Unflipping believable!

I wish all Arab/Muslim regimes have this attention of HUMANITY towards their citizen.
I do not see any wrong of respecting a single human life and body who gave his blood for his nation.
What irritated me here with Helena double play, she did not talking about here state and how they did and doing same acts as same as Israelis. If Israelis looking for more than one dead/life solder body let not forgot and let refresh Helena memory with the story in regard to the US pilot went missing in 1991 when US start war on Iraq Michael Scott Speicher.
Helena look carefully to the timeframe this single US citizen how much attentions took and the huge lengths US goes to get hold of any info about ONE single man?Helena, is he Israeli?
Finally Helena with your country occupying Iraq till now how many Iraqi missing and how many “Mass Graves” will be recovers after US leave Iraq time will tell, but stop the graves and excuses still playing up there as each Mass Grave open these day ohhhh look what the Tyrant did….. So easy answer for all killing in Iraq from 2003 and on going no one will tell the truth Helena….
It seems to me that the obsession with collecting bits and pieces of corpses is one thing; the matter of employing all reasonable efforts to rescue people who are trapped is something else.
The Israeli government is very cruel, it encourages its constituents to be cruel and it delights in hurting and humiliating its opponents.
These deaths in Gaza were all entirely avoidable tragedies which will reverberate for a very long time. Any sane person realises how dreadful each of these deaths was. What is difficult to understand is that, somewhere in Israeli society, while these children and old people were suffocating in agony, people were relishing their suffering; enjoying their agony.
But that must have been the case, because it would have been so easy and so obviously wise to have tried to intervene in order to assist.
In much the same way, allowing medicine supplies to flow inwards to Gaza and those in need of urgent medical attention to leave would also be very easy. And, in the world, good PR.
Israel however holds world opinion in utter contempt whilst it delights in showing off its swaggering ruthlessness and impressing on its people the importance of defying the morality of others and insisting on its freedom to do whatever it chooses. Dominated by politicians in the fascist tradition Israel, like Italy and Spain before it, is beginning to exhibit tendencies that are exceeedingly troubling.
The Arrivals showing how for the last 100 years the media create the ugly image about Arab, in this act they dehumanise any acts against them..
I think what happen today in Palestine, in Iraq and Afghanistan the solders even not told to shoot but the image they have in their back memory these are their enemy , which enemy here?
Any Palestinian, Iraqi, Afghani they facing.

They surely honor their dead, specially when they proudly send them on suicide missions. Like the father of the suicide bomber that killed 45 elderly Passover dinners at the Hotel in Netanyaha.
When the father was interviewed he said he only wished he had more sons to send as martyrs. Or when they dress their toddlers with suicide belts for family pictures and festivals.
Oh, and when they blow up, they don’t ask for their body parts back, so there goes that lie. The US offered Mohammad Atta’s remains and were declined in Egypt, same in Saudia Arabia.
Helena, I do not know where to put this story today.
Excuse me to leave it here.
While Israeli soldiers spoke about their crimes and orders took from their commanders during Gaza war, you post few times regard the Israeli solders spoken out about their crimes during the war.
Here now after six years yes six years not six months like what Israeli solders did, US solders now talking about their crimes and killing (our Mullah Scott, weak up your solders killers) here are these words as they spoken.
They spoken now after six years is due to they have sentenced for their crimes back on homeland as they hard for them to readjust back to Fee World Society!!
Read these US soldiers and their crimes in Iraq in their own words:
