Okay I get it. Some of you don’t like my Chirpstories. But I do not have time to blog about everything I might want to, so tweeting is a good, quick substitute. And actually, I rather enjoy the speedy interactions on Twitter and other aspects of the system like hashtags.
So for those of you interested in my quick impressions from the few days I spent in Cairo after (and before) exiting Gaza, here they are: http://chirpstory.com/li/1805.

Helena – you ask for courteous comments and I complied. My comment on your Chirpstory was intended to let you know that I value what you say but can’t get it from that medium, not to get you to stop tweeting for those who like it.
Your response is defiant, dismissive and makes not a single concession to my comment. I don’t understand why. I meant absolutely no offense.
You’re telling us that if we as readers don’t care for twitter, too bad, you as a writer like it and to blog is too time consuming. If this isn’t a brush off, what is?
Should I stop following your blog?
The chirpstories are limited. You’re enjoying it but that’s not the point.
Also this:
“Honestly, not a single one of these books would have even existed in anything like its present form unless I had worked with these talented and always-busy authors to help them to pull them together.”
enough self-satisfaction. Enough narcissism. Leave that to teenagers. And pride is a sin right?
The interview on Arabist was good.
Hi, friends–
I’m sorry if I came across snippy, Clif. (Though ‘defiant’ and ‘dismissive’ seem a bit overwrought as descriptions of my short blog post.) I’ve been unbelievably busy, including working on a much longer piece that’s going up here on JWN very soon… also, dealing with a bit of 7-hour jetlag.
anomalous, I really don’t see what’s wrong if I sometimes enjoy the work I do here on the blog or on Twitter. I don’t get paid a penny for any of it, so a sense of satisfaction derived from the contribution I feel I’m making is all I get.
Egypt before with Mubrak and after, Egypt kept benefits form US aid for years which was up to ONE Billions US dollars ayear.
Today in the news looks the gulf more generous (which I doubt it, as seen with Gaza before) offering egypt a gift of 500 Millions and another same amount from another donor. why Mubark stick with US aid not turing around and get free loans from his friends in the gulf?
