Shimon Peres loses his marbles

Shimon Peres, current occupant of the largely ceremonial role as Israel’s president, father of Israel’s atomic bomb, author of its disastrous and very damaging mini-war against Lebanon in 1996, and Nobel Peace Laureate (go figure), has finally lost his marbles.
He told reporters today that the goal of Israel’s current assault against Gaza is ” not just to stop the continuing rocket fire from Gaza, but to put a halt to terror worldwide.”
Sadly, no-one in the media event he was speaking at (alongside IDF chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi) seems to have asked Peres just how, precisely, Israel’s current paroxysm of violence against Gaza might be expected to have the stated effect.
The tragic experience of the US’s 2003 “shock and awe” assault against Iraq was that it fomented and incubated considerable additional levels of terrorism worldwide. Israel’s current assault on Gaza can be expected to have an exactly similar effect.
But Israel’s politicians and their many supporters in the US political elite all seem to live in their own little bubble-world of unreality, where the mere invocation of the word “terrorism” is enough to justify anything.
Luckily, the residents of that bubble-world are becoming less influential in world affairs with each day that passes.

    Helena, looks you underestimateing the support of US as astste and as a nation to Israel.
    Its not just US political elite, its vast and more robust support by mainstream US citizen, religious figures from all sec. so on and so forth. This for decades not more changes happened.
    if you hear some start spoken here and their that just very small fraction voices in the forest.

    How can you compare a totally illegal and illegitimate attack that murdered well over a million people with a legitimate and legal act of defense that has cost, at worst, a few thousand casualties. There simply is no comparison of any sort between the two actions.
    The US is a genuine terrorist nation, that, under the control of the Christians, has committed numerous genocides around the world during past decades. The death toll is over ten million and counting. Israel is a small nation that seeks only to live in peace. It is defending itself from neighbors who have declared war (for no reason) and who openly state their desire to steal Israeli land and murder all Israelis. To compare the two is beyond bizarre. But each to his own.

  7. What is happening in Gaza and around the Arab and Muslim world is not the fault of US aggression, but the lack of unity on the Arab side.
    The Israelis are the executers of the colonial powers they are the whores who take orders from their masters .
    While Arab leaders are another species of whores who will do anything to keep tied to their titles.
    The latter sacrifice their people, on the other hand the Israelis are sacrificing their souls.
    For sure we will all be winners if we stopped this nonsense.
    People ask why was Abraham ordered to sacrifice his son by a loving GOD ?
    Did Abraham executed the order ? or was he wise?
    We make choices, let us stop this massacre for the sake of humanity.

    I 2nd mike thoughts about above Helena’s hilarious statement.
    I add here Iraq invasion and the distractions of state of Iraq was for Israel to be free to do the rest in ME.
    Although some like Scott thinks Iran may be next target for US, the fact is Syria will the next target, the next war needs time we all waiting for next war.
    Helena you need to understand that your words can not change any things in our world or in your nation history of terrorists, neither Quaker nor any one can change what US and Israel have in common, in fact US/Israel same coin different face.
