While its mediation between Israel and Syria continues, Turkey’s foreign ministry has now also launched a mediation between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Fascinating.

The US meanwhile is trying to suck NATO countries deeper into the mire. Centcom is atempting to unify the command and make our troops cannon fodder for the Americans.

I am unimpressed with Obamas promise to make Nato countries contribute more toops.
If the US wants to command they can stump up the troops.
Turkey sees the Russia/Georgia collision as an opportunity to schmooze the US [and/or is being used by the US with offers it cannot refuse] into being a major transit point[s] for gas and oil pipelines.
Its hard to determine the extent of its contributions to either the Israel-Syria talks or the Afghan/Pak mediation. IMHO Turkey admittedly is in a geographic location that reflects the axciom of location, location, location.,,, while at the same time tantalizes the Turkish population into a two way street. One way says Europe and the opposite way says Russia/Middle East.
